प्रयुक्त सूत्र:

L% = {(CP - SP)/CP} × 100   (जहाँ L = हानि, CP = क्रय मूल्य और SP = विक्रय मूल्य)

गणना:

माना कि वस्तु X का क्रय मूल्य है। 

⇒ X × {(100 - 17)/100} = 1992

⇒ 83X = 199200

⇒ X = 199200/83 = 2400

⇒ नया विक्रय मूल्य = 2760

⇒ लाभ = 2760 - 2400 = 360
